2025 Leavers: Our Ordinands

Jon Beesley

Although I went to church as a child, I didn’t really become a Christian until I went to university.  When I graduated in 1990, I felt that I had a call to ordination, but I thought that I had found my vocation in teaching and tried to ignore the call.  Thirty-five years later, here I am.  Apparently, you can run but you cannot hide.

Ian Dawes

As a lifelong Christian, I have carried my faith through my careers in retail and the care industry. Working for and alongside people has always been my passion. God has waited patiently for me to hear his call to ordained ministry. During my three years of training, I have been fortunate enough to train with some truly inspirational people.
I am now looking forward to an exciting future in full time ministry on the North Cornish coast following wherever Jesus leads me, words cannot describe the excitement and joy I am feeling about this fantastic opportunity.

Catherine Harper

I moved to North Devon over fifteen years ago for a ‘quiet life’, taking over a small village Post Office and shop with my husband.  It would appear, however, that God had other plans for me!  From July, I will serve as a self-supporting minister, combining my role as village Postmaster with being a curate in our two local churches, and supporting the work across another three parishes in our Mission Community.  It may not be a quiet life, but it is exciting, and I can’t wait to find out how God plans on using us in the future.  With the Lord, nothing is impossible

Debbie Harris

I have served as an LLM/Reader for six years in the far west of Cornwall.  Following ordination as a Distinctive Deacon I will be working alongside the people of the Godrevy Benefice and hope to use my experience as a teacher and youth worker and all I have learnt at SWMTC to support the ministry there.

Marc Kastner

I grew up as a Roman Catholic but after attending an Anglican School in Western Australia I found a more natural home in the Anglican communion.  I have worked in the public sector for many years.  I have been lucky enough to train with the Five Alive Mission Community in East Devon.  As an SSM I will be undertaking my curacy at St Andrew’s, Colyton, and I am very excited about the future.

Fiona Lang

Originally from the Borders in Scotland, I grew up going to my local Church of Scotland parish church where both my parents were Elders.  I began to hear a call to ministry during my teenage years, but I ignored it in favour or university and the Army.  But God doesn’t give up and although my journey wasn’t a straight line, converting to Roman Catholicism before finally listening to God, who gave me the courage to finally follow His call on my life.  It’s terrifying and exciting, but also humbling, and I hope that during my curacy I will be able to show others how He has filled me with so much joy and peace, and the courage to put Him in charge.
