Brilliant Basics

Course length: 6 sessions

Pre-course requirements: none.

Fees: £120 per course, or £150 if you’d like to write marked reflections and receive a certificate at the end.

Durham Validated Programme

Explore the Christian faith in more depth through a range of different modules via our undergraduate level theology courses, validated by Durham University.  Subjects include biblical studies, doctrine, ministry and mission, pastoral care, and theological reflection.  There is plenty of scope for writing about issues of particular interest to you as part of Independent Learning Projects.  You’ll study part-time alongside those training for licensed ministry in the Church of England.  Our teachers are experienced theologians from the region, including SWMTC staff, visiting academics and church leaders.

Foundation Award
in Theology, Ministry
and Mission

Course length: 1 year (60 credits)

Pre-course requirements: One A-level or equivalent

Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) in Theology, Ministry and Mission

Course length: 2 years (120 credits)

Pre-course requirements: One A-level or equivalent

Fees: £1,320 per year* which can be paid in three termly instalments.  Please contact our Operations Team for more information.

Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) in Theology, Ministry and Mission

Course length: 4 years (240 credits).

Pre-course requirements: Two A-levels or equivalent.

Fees:

Years 1 & 2: £1,320 per year*

Years 3 & 4: £1,650 per year*.

BA (Hons) in Theology, Ministry and Mission

Course length: 6 years (360 credits).

Pre-course requirements: Three A-levels or equivalent.

Fees

Years 1 & 2: £1,320 per year*

Years 3 & 4: £1,650 per year*

Years 5 & 6: £1,980 per year*.

MA Theology, Ministry and Mission

Course length: 3 years.

Pre-course requirements: Normally an upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in a subject relevant to the proposed course of study.

Fees

Year 1: £2,500 plus a £100 registration fee.  The £2,500 fee is payable in instalments of £800, due on 1st October, 1st January and 1st April. 

Fees for future years may be subject to inflation but are likely to be similar to year 1.

*For these courses, in addition, a on-time non-refundable registration fee of £100 applies, to each new student (except for sitters-in for which there is no registration fee).  Fees are indicative based on 60 credits at each level.  Actual fees are based on the modules taken by an individual, so may vary slightly.  Fees for future academic years may be subject to inflation, but are likely to be similar to Year 1.  Anglican students in the process of discernment for ordination and recommended to study by the DDO may obtain a bursary towards these courses.  

Sitting In

Interested in theology, but don’t want to write essays?  We also welcome people who wish to simply ‘sit in’ on lectures with no requirement to complete assignments.

Course: Certificate, Diploma & BA (Hons)

Levels 4-6

Fees: £75 per day.

Introduction to Chaplaincy

Course length: 1 year.

Pre-course requirements: None.

Fees: £900 which includes a non-refundable £100 registration fee, all teaching and access to resources.

Certificate in Theology, Ministry & Mission (Chaplaincy)

Course length: 2 years.

Pre-course requirements

Fees: £1,320 per year which includes a non-refundable £100 registration fee, all teaching, assessment and access to the library.

Emmaus Spiritual Direction

Course length: 2 years.

Pre-course requirements: None.

Fees: £1,000 plus non-refundable £100 registration fee.
